Supportive Therapies

Supportive physiotherapy modalities may be incorporated into care when appropriate. These treatments are generally used to complement hands-on care, movement, and rehabilitation rather than serving as the sole focus of treatment.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology tape is an elastic therapeutic tape applied to the skin in specific patterns depending on the treatment goal.

It may be used as a temporary adjunct to treatment to provide sensory feedback, support movement, or complement rehabilitation while still allowing the body to move.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical stimulation uses controlled electrical impulses delivered through electrodes placed on the skin.

Depending on the type of stimulation and treatment goal, it may be incorporated into care to assist with temporary pain management or muscle stimulation.

Heat Therapy

Heat may be used before or during treatment to promote comfort and temporarily reduce feelings of muscular stiffness or tension.

It may also be used to prepare an area for hands-on treatment, stretching, or movement when appropriate.

Cold Therapy

Cold therapy may be used following certain injuries or activities to temporarily reduce pain and provide symptom relief.

Whether heat or cold is appropriate depends on the condition, stage of recovery, individual response, and treatment goals.
